Immediately after the United Stars Organization during GarchingCon 8, plans for Stardust were drawn up and enacted. Contacting Rockhounds, Inc and Hephaestus for raw material and other structural elements, the station grew from a 100m meter sphere in its center like an onion with a larger number of 10 meter decks until reaching its full size of 800 meter (with 100 meter of equatorial ring).
Most Rhodanites not aligned with the USO will note that the Stardust greatly resembles the space ship stardust II from the first cycle of the Perry Rhodan series, speculating if the station isn't actually a spaceship. USO officials are quick to deny anything in that direction, but those denies are mostly suspiciously specific, as are any denies of hidden weapon systems.
Only the decks 35 to 49 of Stardust are open to the public, including a 400 meter diameter park on deck 45 and the access ways to the hanger decks on deck 30 and 45. But even if most of Stardusts volume is closed to the public, the general atmosphere onboard is friendly and welcoming.
Stardust had two larger hangardecks north and south of its equatorial ring. They are running around the entire diameter of the ship on those latitudes. The upper hangar deck is named "Meekorah Aerospace Port", with being the larger of the two station docks, because the lower hangardeck is halved, one being an open hangar deck, while the rest are designated as dry docks.
