It serves as "home port" for the [[Space Pirates]], no matter whose flag their ships might actually fly. '''[[SSX Base]]''', the Pirate faction's central headquarters, was a major staging point for anti-Boskonian operations throughout [[Operation Great Justice]].

One of Pirate Island's best-known drinking establishments is '''[[The Drunken Harlock]]''', the Belt's only authentic dockside bar. It is found (reasonably enough) right beside '''Royal Freeport''', SSX Base's space dock.
