28978 Ixion is a Sol system dwarf planet.
It was discovered by the Deep Ecliptic Survey and the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory on 22 May 2001, and is named after the Greek mythic figure who was reckoned the first man guilty of kin-slaying.
